PAX Pox Version 2.0
I felt pretty shitty yesterday and ended up not going in to work. I told myself that if it didn't get better overnight, I'd see a doctor. So, this morning, I went to the doctor. At the time, I had a 101.8 degree fever and strep throat. Sucks ass. I really hate being sick. I wish my body understood that I have important things to do! That being said, AHWU probably won't be coming out this week, but know that a bunch of games and DLC came out. I'm supposed to be flying to Orlando on Thursday...not sure if that is going to happen now. Stupid dumb body with it's stupid weaknesses. Anyone else get sick after PAX? (Or during?) Oh yeah, and PAX was f'ing amazing. I had a blast out there with you kind folks. Let's do it again soon. Feel free to tag me in your photos if I ended up in them. |

Monty had an idea way back in April, and I loved it -- because I really dig simple ideas with big consequences. We were talking about the major action scenes in Revelation and at the time we were busy building Foundry for Episode 10. It was pretty painstaking, because Monty is a big, big stickler for continuity in both geography and action. I think his stuff moves so fast that you can cheat a lot with editing, but he's used to people watching his work frame-by-frame.
Anyway, while we were busy turning Foundry into "offsite archive facility", as is the methodology for most of our sets, Monty suggested we flip that process for the next sequence. What if instead of taking a halo map and using Forge to turn it into an RvB set, we took an RvB set and over the course of an episode destroyed it to make a Halo map?
So, that was essentially the process used to make Episode 19. Monty built an iced-over canyon and then had Tex detonate the glacier in order to reveal the map we all know and love underneath. Pretty cool idea and led to a great scene, IMO. And judging by the comments to the episode, I think you will agree.
